i'm interested in knowing what trading platforms people are using. I'm using InstaQuote with Penson Financial Services brokerage account for my daytrading. i also have eTrade online account for swing and longer trades. I'm paying $5.25/trade with Penson.

I've seen MasterTrader advertised with $2 discount applied to training courses with Pristine. Has anyone done this or taken any of their courses? Are they any good?

I looked at ProTrader on the VectorVest site, but that is just an analysis, charting tool. There is a ProTrader trading platform available from someone else.

What is the best platform and why?

My broker is thinkorswim.com. They have excellent free technical analysis tools built in to their trading platform. But for stock-only traders (not options), I would look elsewhere for a broker. I was happy with Scottrade when I used them some time ago.

For stock selection I use VectorVest. I do have ProTrader because I use searches with technical criteria in them. I also use AutoTester to make backtesting in VectorVest easier. Brian also uses the VV Simulator.

Banks have also jumped on the retail forex trading platform bandwagon and have started offering those services to individual traders and money mangers, expanding the forex trading appeal. DBFX and Citibank are some of the banks that are currently offering this service.
